Review 4Milk (2008) IMDB rating: 8.0
I wasn’t interested because this was about politics, and gay. And I could imagine(or guess) how much he had been fighting the fairness which was, actually, THE END. I was watching Sean Penn having his speech after winning Oscar award. He didn’t mention a single word while the camera was shooting his partner. So then I read from the public entitled he’s a 'womanizer'. And that’s how it interested me to watch this movie, a 'womanizer' who is still worth to be awarded. And his acting to me was very convincing. So gay. The movie says he didn’t aim to be a politician. But his cognition made him what he was.
Phoebe In Wonderland (2008) IMDB rating: 7.1
This movie gave me a cretain feeling that I almost wanted to bursted out. This is such a awful film. I thought. How can a kid behave like this! I was feeling angry while watching it. But as the movie was getting to the end I started to pulling myself out of the emotion and telling this is just a movie. By having this thought I guess I must say Elle Fanning(the leading actress of the movie, with that famous last name) has done a great job. I have no background knowledge about "Alice in Wonderland", so I cannot perceive any meaning behind the story-line. However I found it a bit blur about what the movie was trying tell us. Review 3Slumdog Millionaire (2008) IMDB: 8.7 To be honest, I somehow think the rate of this year’s best movie would drop slightly down after going through by more audience. This movie has a complex background of culture, human nature and love. I’m impressed the way the director has boldly filmed the dark side of a society that a country wouldn’t be so proud of, but thankfully, that is the charm of a superior film. I wish my country could have done that.
Revolutionary Road (2008) IMDB: 7.9 I wasn’t expecting too much from this movie because it has a big deal of commercial element in it. And the preview is not fascinating. But I regarded this as a good movie because it has put two extreme in a 50s American family – love and hate. Where is typical but still exploratory. A husband that always forced to be willing to take responsible of a family but overlook what his family needed to be. It gives a question of putting passion above living, or giving passion away for living. DiCaprio and Winslet have done a great job.
The boy In The Stripped pajamas (2008) IMDB: 7.9 My top favorite movie of the year. It’s an classic yet outstanding story of WW II, a time being seen through an eye of a boy, There’s no war, yet no humanitarian, there’s no sadness, or joy, no blindness, or sight. Confusion is the fence, standing between people yet untouchable. Review 2"Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest" IMDB rating: 7.3 I couldn’t recall when did I watch the Pirates of Caribbean 1. It didn’t really leave me a good impression though, but this one, adding more strange yucky thing like pirate-style movies always do, had made me laughed several times, suddenly I realized, as nowadays,(well the movie slightly doesn’t count) only a few number of scenes can hilariously surprise people. Maybe I have a strange taste of humor, or maybe one director could consider using some new idea. And I do love Keira’s heavy pretending british accent.
"Kinky Boots" (2005) IMDB rating:6.9 "The sex is in the heel.” May I remind you, this is a movie containing an supporting role of transsexual, and my new fetish, high heels. Transsexual and high heels, both things didn’t have one tiny place in my mind before I came to Melbourne, precisely saying, before an experience of a club and Gucci store. This movie more correctly is talking about how an old traditional english factory and the generation renew. The story line can be a little bit more, how to say, updating.
"Seven" (1995) IMDB rating 8.6 Having #33 position among TOP 250 MOVIES at imdb.com. I didn’t decide to watch again until a friend of mine told me that’s his favorite movie. I asked him, what seven deadly sins are, he could only gave me gluttony, greed, lust and envy. It’s hard to give the exact names but we do know what sins generally are. Perhaps not, in the second thought. In my opinion, David Mills should die. How come being wrath can survive. Perhaps we can and sometimes we should, in the second thought. Review 1"Boy A" (2007) IMDB rating: 8.0
The movie keeps throwing me a question, more like a decision, to accept or not his second entrance of society. And also there is, ironically, a father-like man who pay so much attention on his 'son of art' that he missed his responsibility of fatherhood. I all along found this movie pretty involving. Till it leaves me an alternative ending, but on the second thought, why cares the death of a life, but a birth of humane murderer?
"Les Femmes de L'ombre"(2008) IMDB rating: 7.0
All right, perhaps I've pointed biggest highlights of the movie as above, but still the 5 actresses are entertaining enough to catch the other side of soldiers. And that is the only remained in the story.
Jeux d'enfants(2003) IMDB rating: 7.5
Yes it is, absolutely. This "Amélie" style brings a lot inspirations and excitements along. Both characters have fell into the purest love, with punching, and laughing at it. More to be hilarious, and idealist, one would say. A loving, full of surprising, delightful movie. 色·戒I decided to watch this movie finally(as I bought it two months ago), because I was feeling horny. However this movie was not made as a porn, besides this was about a officeholder couldn't help but fell in love with a college student. At the very ending he signed off on the execution which eventually reminding us that this was only a story of lust. Oh well, you could say that's a love story but just not the way we want to see. Hurrah for a public sexualised chinese movie. My Blueberry NightsI love Jude, I love Natalie, and Norah's voice is very attractive. This movie has already had a good comment from me before I watch it. And I watched it at Monday night, I felt the result could possibably go extreme, Sabrina said it's somewhat boring, I said - you know what I would say. After reading those comments on imdb.com, I figured out people who love this movie would long for a love (or jouney) like that, but people who don't like, it seems to me that, are hollywood-addicted. At the end, the movie didn't leave me much to think, but admittedly I found myself too much fake british accent! OnceOH MY GOD, OH-MY-GOD. This is so brilliant, utterly brilliant. The initial reason I watched this movie was because it is Irish made. After I watched I felt totally satisfied and comforted, perhaps it has been related to my personal issue lately, I wondered. The actor repeatedly reminded me Damien Rice, it's so touching. However I think the title has already given us the end, that should be the only flaw I've found out. And I'd not take this as an "sad romantic film" because it gave me a feeling like "once you have had it, you have no regret of what's going next." Read the comments from imdb.com for <once>. How lucky I am can watch this movie! Amazing Grace is giving us a story of how a british parliament member made his effort on the abolition of slave trade. In my opinion, it shall be the best movie I've seen in this year, however I think the "suffering from stomach-ache" part was a bit over. As a matter of fact, we still have 27,000,000 slaves suffering in the world, get more information on National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. wow. FIRST TIME WITH JUDE IN CINEMAMy Blueberry Nights will be in cinema on 22th Dec. This will be my first time to see Jude on the cinema, I'm so excited. ELIZABETHThat is where I learn history, yes. And I suppose this movie was the breaking point of Cate Blanchett's career? In the 'extra' part one actor had mentioned that Robert was the only one who really loved the Elizabeth however the truth might be not. Despite of that, it's definitely worth to see even I had been interrupted...twice. |
